ASUS представила внешний DVD-RW привод SDRW-08D1S-U. Он изображен на фотографии ниже, его размеры составляют 156,4 x 140,8 x 21 мм (без подставки). Его можно располагать как вертикально, так и горизонтально. Он оснащен интерфейсом USB 2.0, 2 МБ буфером, а в составе поставляется ПО от CyberLink.
Что касается скоростей записи, то SDRW-08D1S-U может записывать DVD-R/+R SL и DVD+RW на скорости 8x, DVD-R/+R DL и DVD-RW на скорости 6x, CD-R и CD-RW на скорости 16x.
Компания Skype Ltd наконец-то выпустила финальную версию Skype 4.0.0.206. Новая версия предлагает все те же возможности, которые были доступны и в предыдущих версиях, плюс новые возможности и исправления:

Microsoft решила оставить всего два варианта грядущей ОС Windows 7.
Дело в том, что реально будет шесть вариантов дистрибутива Windows 7, однако серьезно продвигаться будут лишь два: Windows 7 Home и Windows 7 Professional.
Будут существовать также и Windows 7 Home Basic и Windows 7 Starter, однако они будут устанавливаться лишь производителями ПК. Windows 7 Starter будет распространяться лишь в странах "третьего мира".
Microsoft говорит, что для крупных заказчиков будет существовать также вариант Enterprise, сравнимый с Windows Vista Ultimate.
Такой подход можно лишь приветствовать, так как большое количество дистрибутивов Windows Vista зачастую только запутывало конечного пользователя.
Mozilla Foundation обновила свой браузер Firefox до версии 3.0.6.
Новая версия исправляет следующие ошибки:

Исправлены проблемы стабильности работы.
В предыдущих версиях Firefox некоторые пользователи испытывали проблему, при которой некоторые части на экране отображались некорректно после длительного периода времени.
Улучшена возможность исполнения скриптовых команд для более полной совместимости с плагинами.
